Question Watch the 2 parts of the interactive video, Partnering to Heal (also listed and linked in the Resources for Module 3):  The introduction (6:31): (this is the main part that will open the first time you launch the video). This introduces the different characters who will figure into all of the videos. The “Dena” video (approx. 25 minutes): When the introduction is complete, click “NEXT” (bottom right of screen) and then click on the character Dena (character names pop up when you hover over each picture), the registered nurse who works on that particular unit. After viewing just the 2 parts (listed above) of the video Partnering to Heal, write a 350-word paper that addresses the following questions about infection control:    What happened to the young student who was just in the hospital for an appendectomy but ended up dying? Discuss this scenario—the breakdown in infection prevention, lack of/inappropriate use of PPE, etc.Discuss the inter- and intra-professional collaboration and communication that is vital between nurses and doctors in caring for patients. Was good collaboration and communication present between doctor-intern and/or nurse-nurse in this scenario? Explain.Did poor communication play a part in the patient’s death? What could’ve been done to improve communication? Why is it so important to adhere to policy/procedure in the use of PPE (gloves, gowns, hand sanitizer, etc.)?Imagine that, like the young nurse in the second part of this video, you are caring for a patient in isolation who asks you to bring him/her something after you’ve already removed your PPE.Is there any excuse for NOT using PPE when it is warranted? How difficult is it (emotionally) to stop a friend/peer and remind them of or encourage them to adhere to any type of policy (for example, reminding another to follow the proper steps as far as PPE)?How difficult would it be to stop a doctor and discuss proper steps with him/her?Is it your duty in either circumstance to stop friends, peers, work associates, and doctors from possible harmful actions and/or remind them of the need to adhere to policy and/or proper steps? What choice did you make in this interactive video situation? Did you opt to tell your friend to put the PPE back on or did you opt to allow her to return to the room without it? Discuss your decision.A patient has been sent to your floor with a draining, ulcerated sore on their leg. Labs have been ordered but the results are not back yet. Do you need a doctor’s order to immediately put this patient in isolation if you feel that it is warranted? Explain. Health Science Science Nursing NURN 402 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
