Her teammate notes that she had been stumbling and was starting to have more difficulty with her serve. On arrival, she appears to have difficulty with balance and labors to adjust herself in bed. She has also begun to complain of shortness of breath and headaches.     On examination, she appears weak and slightly uncomfortable with her breathing. Her temperature is 36.6°C (98°F); her slow heart rate of 50 beats/min; her rapid breathing of about 26 breaths/min; and her slightly low blood pressure of 90/60 mmHg. Her pupils are sluggish, and she constantly clears her throat. She can only keep her arms up against gravity for 10 seconds, and her hands are limp. She has a slight movement of her legs with decreased sensation of pain and fine touch to her knees. I think having the pastor come to the emergency room to be with the player is important because it provides her a support system for a difficult time. I believe that having a support system can make or break someone when it comes to getting through a difficult time. The pastor is someone who would be able to provide comfort for her situation and remind her that she is not alone and will always have someone standing with her. It is also important that the pastor is there because many people see the church as a family and if the pastor knew about the situation and didn’t show up, then the girl may feel as though he does not genuinely care about her well-being.  Health Science Science Nursing SPES 180 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
