Question Answered step-by-step In this exercise you are going to look at deviance from a… In this exercise you are going to look at deviance from a first-hand perspective.  You are going to be “Deviants for a Day”.  The purpose of this activity is to see not only how other people react to a harmless but unusual behavior, but also how you feel about being labeled as “weird”, “stupid”, or perhaps having assumptions made about the rest of your personality on the basis of one behavior. You are to act in a deviant manner (e.g. dress quite differently from your normal style; eat obnoxiously; etc.) The important aspect is for you to note people’s reaction to your behavior. As you conduct your deviant behavior, a few IMPORTANT POINTS must be emphasized: A.​DO NOT BREAK ANY RULES/ LAWS!  If you are dressing deviantly, your clothing must conform to the dress code, and you must not engage in any activity that gets you in trouble.  If you are disciplined for your choices, do not use the excuse that it was an assignment. B.​DO NOT carry any alcohol containers, cigarettes, drug equipment, or any other item that will get you (and me) in trouble. C. ​Failure to use good judgment will result in a zero for this assignment. D.​Answers must be typed—this assignment will be submitted electronically! I hope you enjoy this experiment.  It can be a lot of fun, and I hope you will learn the details of Labeling Theory from your personal experience.
