I know from personal experience that this facility provides excellent care to their patients. I was born at this hospital and have volunteer at this hospital during my high school years and my mother also works for this hospital. Both of my grandmother and grandfather have received health services at this facility weather it be spending a few days in the hospital, a quick Emergency Room visit and going for therapy. Each time my grandparents went to New York- Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital they received excellent care, they never had to worry about finding out information about what their health insurance covers because my parents would always take care of finding out this information. Although I believe New York- Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital is a great facility, there website does not give much information about what Medicare would cover. If I were an elder person seeking medical care at New York- Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital I would not get much information from their website. On the New York- Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital there is a section called Patients/ Visitors and there are different links that take you to paying for your visit. When looking at those links it just gives a list of what insurance are accepted for medical care such as Ambulatory coverage, hospital accepted plans and Psychiatry Clinic. It only states the different types of Medicare that cover these types of medical services but, it does not state how much is covered or what the patient is responsible for. In the journal “Unmet Long-Term Care Needs: An Analysis of Medicare-Medicaid Dual Eligible” it states “full Medicare population, regardless of income, Medicare pays, on average, just over half of each enrollee’s health care costs (Komisar ect. al 2005).” If and older person is looking for health care coverage they may not know this information which can make it confusing for an older person.
