Question Design a culturally safe health promotion strategy relevant to… Design a culturally safe health promotion strategy relevant to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Choose a healthcare setting that your strategy could be implemented in. Your strategy needs to relate to health promotion in some way. This could be encouraging Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people to attend general health checks, it could be relating to promoting an aspect of healthcare e.g. eye health, ear health, diabetes, heart health, kidney health etc. It could be anything that is a significant issue for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island communities and is promoted in a culturally safe way. However, do not try to cover too much, pick one topic only. Examples are: Brochure, promotional video, poster, share an eBook written by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person describing experiences relating to that particular health issue, share knowledge of traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island healing strategies, educational resource relating to a health topic, etc.Decide on a culturally safe strategy that promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and relates to health. Decide on a culturally safe strategy that promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and relates to health. Address all of the following areas: ·        What is your promotional strategy?·        Where or how do you intend on implementing your strategy?·        What is the purpose of your strategy?·        How is your strategy culturally safe?·        How does it promote cultural awareness? ·        How does it promote cultural competence?·        How does it encourage increased participation by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in the service it is designed for implementation in? reflection relating to your cultural safety promotion strategy. Base your reflection on the learning in this unit and the session with the guest speaker. Include your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in the workplace Discuss any biases you have or have had. This could be specifically in relation to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture or it could relate to any biases. (This is not about judgement, do not hold back. Awareness is the first step in culturally safe practice. It is a requirement to identify at least 1 bias you have or had) Consider how aware you are of your biases while interacting with others.  Discuss how aware you have been in the past of other cultures while you are working. Discuss how conscious you were of culture and its influence on interactions you have with others. Consider colleagues, clients and supervisors.  Discuss communication techniques and practices you have used that show respect for differences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. If you have not had any interaction with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, discuss communication techniques and practices that you would use now.How will your thoughts, feelings and behaviours change after completing this unit in relation to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture.
