Question Answered step-by-step Can I please get some feed back. The question was: Suppose you have… Can I please get some feed back. The question was: Suppose you have an opportunity to either: (1) send $800 to Africa to save a dozen people from starvation or (2) give the money to your little sister to buy books for college. Which would you do? Why? Explain which moral theory aligns with your decision-making process. According to this topic if I had 800 dollars to send to either an area, suffering from famine, or to my sister who needs it to buy books, in my heart it would only be right to donate it to the hungry. The reason I chose this as my answer is mainly because of how many people I can help with 800 dollars. If I give 800 dollars to my sister to just buy books I am only supporting her for one semesters worth of books that will probably be useless once that semester ends. However, in helping the area from famine with 800 dollars, I can help feed many people instead of just one. Those 800 dollars can go a long way when you can share it among an area that is famine. In addition, you do not truly know how dire the situation is for those poor famine people. There will most likely be hungry children starving alongside their parents. In addition, those parents may be sad because they cannot support their children. I would love to give them an opportunity to be able to feed with my donation of 800 dollars. Realistically I would rather donate more than 800 dollars because food is the main thing that keeps a person alive next to water. Besides, my sister can most likely find a friend or classmate that has the book and they can share it during class. On another hand, if I also told my sister of my decision, she may also ask me to just donate it because it would be the right thing to do. Now, the moral theory that aligns with my decision-making would be virtue theory. Because virtue theory has to do with the honesty and morality of a person, practicing good habits like generosity and other human traits. Being able to donate will align perfectly with the generosity portion of the virtue theory decision. That would also make my sister’s hypothetical decision align with my moral theory. I thought about it hard and I am satisfied with my answer being aligned towards helping majority over the minority.
