This study was performed to assess the current level of knowledge and practicing behavior among the children, in regards to personal hygiene (Khatton, Sachan, Khan, & Srivastava, 2017). Every student was interviewed using a structured questionnaire, this was considered the pretest, after completing the pretest the children were then presented with a visual display of good vs. bad personal hygiene etiquette (Khatton, Sachan, Khan, & Srivastava, 2017). During the presentation, the benefits of good personal hygiene behavior in regard to hand washing, bathing, tooth brushing, and taking care of nails and hair, were thoroughly discussed (Khatton, Sachan, Khan, & Srivastava, 2017). After the presentation was over the participants were then interviewed again, using the same structured questionnaire, this was considered the posttest (Khatton, Sachan, Khan, & Srivastava, 2017). After completion of the posttest, the knowledge of the students regarding general body cleanliness was 87.5%, compared to 53.8% after completion of the pretest (Khatton, Sachan, Khan, & Srivastava, 2017). In regards to adequate hand hygiene, 72.5% of students were found to be washing their hands once a week, and 70% of students were washing their hands before meals (Khatton, Sachan, Khan, & Srivastava, 2017). The results tested the students’ knowledge before and after being taught proper hygiene, showcasing the effects of the teaching on the students. The breadth of knowledge regarding personal hygiene increased by 33.7%, and the children were able to practice overall better hygiene. Where the children did not have enough information taught to them at home, the gaps were filled in by teaching them in school, allowing them to use that information both in school and at home.
