Educating them on what foods are good for them along with easy healthy recipes could be a great start. This is a primary level of prevention because this would go a long way in stopping any further diet issues. 2. Another intervention could be screening for health conditions in the area related to poor eating and diets. Checking people for hypertension, diabetes and obesity can be a real wake up call for these people. This provides a secondary level of prevention because these interventions could help us catch early signs of these issues and help find ways to deal with them and make the outcomes better. 3. The third intervention is prescribing exercise regimens and provide specific diets to those who prove to need help. The people that we find in the screenings with issues related to their diets need specific regimens to get back on track and possibly deal with things like obesity, hypertension, etc. Tertiary levels of prevention aim at dealing with people who already have been affected with a specific issue. With the primary level of prevention of providing education, we can run into many people who don’t care or don’t want help. People are going to live their lives regardless of what people tell them. We need to focus on the people that are willing to change and make a difference in their life. The other side to this is there will be people who have had enough of their lifestyle choices, and they choose to make a change to better themselves. The secondary level of prevention of providing health screenings can be met with some challenges as well. Some people won’t become strictly because they don’t feel like it. There is nothing you can do about that. The other issues are the people who say they must work, they have school, are too busy, etc. To combat that we can move the screenings from place to place, whether it be in schools or certain workplaces to give as many people as possible a chance to be screened and possibly get potential help with their health and diet issues. The tertiary level of prevention calls for prescribing exercise regimens and specific diet needs. This will be difficult to implement because some people lack self-discipline and without someone to keep tabs on them and provide constant support, they can give up and revert to old habits. It would be important to educate on the importance of a life coach, a friend, family member, etc., that can be there for them and hold them accountable while they work on the regimens provided. There are many programs in place throughout the country to help people with their health and diet. In a smaller community, it can be important to educate on these programs and what is available to them. Schools can implement healthy lunches for all students to ensure that kids are eating healthy and avoiding obesity. We can also advocate for community gardens to give the community a sense of purpose and giving people an interest in healthy food. A free place to go and to grow and take fresh produce is a great way of attracting people to come and consume this healthier food.
