The preceptor is a very resourceful individual in the practicum, especially in areas requiring direction and evaluation of competence gained.Strengths and Opportunities for ImprovementCompleting my training has allowed me to see my strengths and areas that need improvement. The strengths I can see in myself are that I can better understand that some individuals may have medical issues that present, like mental health issues, so it has helped me become more open-minded when completing an assessment. I am more confident in mental health screening test like Hamilton anxiety Rating Scale (Ham-A), Patient Health Questionaire-9 (PHQ-9), Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE), Columbia Suicide Serviety Rating Scale (Jacobson, 2022). I also can be assured of assisting my clients in finding the appropriate resources they need for help. It has become easier to speak with clients, adjust medications if needed, and understand that some patients take time to get better. My weakness is I continue to face that I may need to grow in are my assessing skills with children and correctly diagnosing, which can be confused because multiple symptoms look alike. I realized to get used correct diagnosis takes time. When using SMART goals, figure out what you want to achieve and ways to reach it. Keep your goals accurate because the more specific you are, the simpler you can assess your growth. SMART Goals (Walden University Academic Skills Center, 2017). Goal 1: Attempt to determine the appropriate diagnosis that best suits my patient. I will get fast feedback from my preceptor and, by the end of the semester, be able to work a little more self-sufficiently. Task one. Continually study my DSM-5 manual Task 2. Communicate with the preceptor and ask for professor suggestions if needed too.Goal 2: Work on ways to better my The Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan (SOAP) notes so that I may have minimum alterations required to my notes.
