In the role the student will simulate that they are very unhappy with the meals being provided.Student 2 is required to play the role of the personal care worker.Student 3 is required to play the role of the chef. The chef has only recently commenced working at this residential aged care facility and has not had time to take into considerations all the resident’s cultural preferences.Student 4 is required to play the role of the supervisor. In this role the student will provide a meeting where Yue and her family can discuss their concerns.Role play 1: YING YUE CHUResident Mrs Ying Yue Chu Room 68 was born 6 September 1938. Ying Yue Chu is also known as Mrs Moon or Yue. Yue arrived in Australia in 1969 with her husband Fei Hung Yong. On arrival in Australia Yue and Fei went to work in a Geelong Chinese restaurant, the Tien Wah. They stayed for many years, learning the trade, saving for their own restaurant. They had two children, the oldest child, a daughter Meili de Yue Liang also known as Moon, and their youngest child, a son Ren Shou Biao Sheng, known as Ren. They worked and lived in Geelong.They started their own restaurant in 1985 in Footscray, The Golden Noodle. Yue was very proud of her restaurant and recipes. Yue and Fei spoke English very well and encouraged their children to be multilingual. All of the family spoke Mandarin and Xiang, Moon and her brother spoke Malay, Bahasa and French.The restaurant was sold in 2000, when Yue was 62. Yue and Fei returned to Geelong and opened a small takeaway, Fei Yues in Geelong city, until Fei’s death in 2014 due to stroke. Yue began to lose interest in the restaurant after Fei’s death and it was closed soon after. Yue began to revert to her native Mandarin language in 2016 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.In March 2021 Moon and Ren recognised that their mother was struggling at home and due to their work and family commitments they were unable to provide the care Yue required to remain living in the community. Yue was assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Service and admitted to a residential aged care facility for permanent care. Yue uses a flip book to assist with communication with the staff.Yue was proud of her heritage and restaurant, preferring traditional foods and only eating with chopsticks. throughout her life. Yue follows Taoism, and believes strongly in the teachings of genuineness, longevity, health, immortality, vitality, compassion, kindness, love, humility and modesty.Her prized possessions are her Jade Dragon, incense bowl and her Qing and Faqi or standing bell.
