Question Answered step-by-step Respond peer issue by stating your experience or how you feel about the issue. When I started reading the article that was presented I was somewhat shocked of the violence that nurses are exposed to the states, “higher than that of prison guards or police.”The idea of going to work everyday and not knowing if it’s your last day in a workplace that where give your all to to care and help others who are sick, injured, and at their worst is frightening. This article is very informative on how they have made a stance on awareness that with collaboration this can be prevented. Reaching out through governing bodies making plans to prevent any and further violence from happening. As far and internal information to get help in this manner the advocate reaches out to the nurses to be whistleblowers within to speak up about incidences for themselves and others. I know that people don’t speak for fear of being blamed for causing in someway that the violence could have prevented if only they had tried a different approach. In other incidences nurses feel nothing will be done about it and don’t want to speak up. A lot of times situations are sick or ill and the violence is blamed on that so it isn’t thoroughly looked into. The article states, “February 2021, the House of Representative introduced the Workplace Prevention for Health Care Social Service Workers Act, which require the Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA) to develop enforceable standards requiring health care and social service employers to pen and implement a workplace violence prevention plan to protect employees from violent incidents in the workplace.” The bill was passed on April 16 with the number range of 254-166.
