Question Answered step-by-step ——Read what your partner wrote and respond to what he said—-… ——Read what your partner wrote and respond to what he said—- After reading the text provided for Nonverbal Communication, I have have learnt about 5 different types of nonverbal communication. Each type is unique and has a different meaning to the kind of message they convey. Kinesics is the movement of hands, face, head or any other movement during a conversation; for example, when we nod our head while agreeing/disagreeing to something or waving at someone to say hello. Haptics is explained as the communication through touch, this can we when we shake hands with a colleague, hug a friend, or even pet our pets. Vocalics refer to the tone, pitch, or rate of our speech during conversation. Proxemics is defined as having specific space for specific conversations, example includes being in close proximity with a partner during flirtatious communication. Chronemics, refers to the affect time has on communication.Explain how the use of nonverbal communication would be important in the workplace.Nonverbal communication is important in workplace since there are instances when verbal communication may not be able to convey the preferred message that we needs to be sent. For example, Proxemics and Chronemics is very important while working, the space that we share with colleagues needs to be professional like public or social space. Chronemics is also important in workplace as time based communication helps with deadlines or upcoming project work What kind of misinterpretations could occur?During some nonverbal communications, some signals may be misinterpreted. If we were to take Kinesics as an example, many facial expressions can be misinterpreted; for example, when someone is being too friendly with you, but you don’t agree and don’t want to be rude so you just smile, that may signal them to think that it is ok for them to continue. Often times haptics may be misinterpreted as well, like if your friend was making jokes and you happen to be touching their shoulder or arm while laughing they may take it as a sign that you may be flirting with them Arts & Humanities English English Literature SPC 1017 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
