Base on the case study below explain the causes why the patients result Estrogen and progesterone receptors are negative. For Example:Mammogram (base on the case study below)This is used to screen and look for early signs of breast cancer using a X-ray for breast. It will detect an irregular area of the breast that has the potential to be malignant or no signs of breast cancer.Revealed: Abnormalities in the right breast but there are no palpable masses on breast examination Case Study:Lolita Rodriguez is a 38-year-old married mother of 3 girls (ages 2, 4, and 5) who has just been diagnosed with infiltrating ductal cancer of her left breast following a mammogram and stereotactic core biopsy. She decided to have a mammogram after learning that her aunt and grandmother were diagnosed with breast cancer. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 8 years ago at age 50. The mammogram revealed abnormalities in the right breast but there are no palpable masses on breast examination. Mammography revealed 2 nonpalpable abnormalities, one in the upper outer quadrant (UOQ) and one in the lower outer quadrant (LOQ). Lolita underwent mammographically localized excisional biopsies of both areas and both lesions were shown to be malignant, the RUOQ is a grade III infiltrating ductal carcinoma measuring 0.9 cm with clear margins, and the RLOQ one a focus of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) measuring 0.6 cm in greatest diameter but with positive margins. Estrogen and progesterone receptors are negative.Lolita has been told of the diagnosis and were so very anxious. She was advised by her primary care provider to undergo definitive surgical mastectomy. Following healing, Lolita will undergo radiation of the remaining breast tissues which is generally administered over a period of 6 weeks and 5 days a week. The primary care provider further explains that side effects are minimal, consisting of fatigue and some local swelling and minor soreness of the breast with associated erythema, and occasionally sloughing of the epidermis which will eventually heal. After a thorough explanation made by her primary care provider, Lolita, although still very anxious, she is fully aware of her options, benefits, risks and complications of the planned surgical procedure, thus consent was given.  Health Science Science Nursing NCMA 312 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
