Question Answered step-by-step Please proofread. Socrates view on diversity is based on… Please proofread.Socrates view on diversity is based on educational equality. In other words, men and women should be taught the same thing, if society expect them to perform the same assignment or work. However, during the time of Socrates, gender equality was unheard of and considered progressive. In addition, Socrates view about gender equality based on women being educated as their male counterparts may seem like gender equality; however, Socrates is also of the belief that women are naturally inferior to men (Kane, 2015). Socrates view of gender equality still has an element of gender inequality because in his time women were seen as naturally important as men (Kane, 2015). Therefore, this view of gender inequality influenced Socrates as in expressing his concept of gender inequality as being gender equality. Socrates was considered sexist; however, there are similar argument in modern times with the issue of “Equal Pay for Equal Work” for women. In other words, we live in world that acts as if there is gender equality; however, society does not allow for laws that will allow for gender equality in pay to be enacted (Kane, 2015). Gender inequality could be tackled by implementing Socrates’ utopia of a society that men and women should be given the opportunities to rise to high social class with equal protections under the law and same freedom (Kane,2015).
