Purposiveness helps determine what a researcher wants to examine as it focuses on finding a definite aim or purpose of the research. It also includes reflecting on the purpose, which leads to focusing on a research question and then examining ways to address it (Morse & Richards, 2013).The concept of congruence focuses on drawing inferences by looking at the fit between the research problem and question, the research question and the chosen method, and then how they fit among the method, data, and the way of handling data. All of this provides the best possible way to the question (Morse & Richards, 2013).When determining which method best fits the project in a qualitative study, Morse & Richards (2013) use the armchair walkthrough, as it is one way to reduce the uncertainty of the research. The armchair walkthrough is a way for researchers to link different methods of research by utilizing different methods, which in turn helps identify the possible outcome.
