Question Answered step-by-step please answer this question in as much explanation and detail as possible. Review each of the five theory’s below. What are the challenges you foresee with using each theory?Recommend a different theory, if you think that another may be more effective with the program.Theory’s:1.) For my program, I want to use social cognitive theory to help empower the visually impaired or blind to adopt new skills and thought processes. I think that this theory can help to create new behaviors and expectations through skills training, adjustments in environment, and incentives. One of the biggest barriers for the visually impaired/blind is adjusting to a life without functional vision. Skills like cooking, using technology, cleaning, and transportation are all things that have to be relearned when someone experiences vision loss. Changing a person’s environment so that it is more friendly for the visually impaired, teaching new skills, and instilling confidence in the individual will help them to achieve independence with minimal help. Social Cognitive Theory requires the individual to have expectations of the positive health behavior, which means our program must first help the individual gain confidence that they will be able to achieve the target behaviors. Ideally, the program would provide peer counseling and sessions that help reinforce the positive behaviors. Incentives would help our population feel fulfilled with reminders of how far they have come. This could be in the form of behavior checklists, peer reinforcement, and even financial incentives as an external motivator. 2.)The theory that I have chosen to use to help guide me through my program intervention is the stage theories of organizational change. This theory makes sense for my program because a solid problem is defined, and various actions are taken in order to make a change. For my program, I am defining issues within nursing homes for the elderly population such as a lack of social interaction, and I am determining safe ways to implement healthy social interaction. This theory will help me to organize a program that will promote mental health among the elderly that live in nursing homes. From the first step in the stages of change theory, the problem of lack of social interaction in nursing homes is defined. Next, actions such organizing ways of implementing game nights and community visits occur. After this, there is an implementation of game nights (say every Wednesday is bingo night). After this, in institutionalization takes place where it is normal for every Wednesday to be bingo night, and Friday to be community visit night where it becomes normal that each person living in the nursing home has a chance to be social. 3.)The theory that I have chosen to use to help guide me through my program intervention is the stage theories of organizational change. The target group I am working with is Native American adolescent women and this theory works to implement new ideas and practices to innovate change. Young minds want fresh new ideas and they want to see how the ideas will work in a real life setting. The DOI theory first provides the group with knowledge about why changes are needed. This knowledge will come through several forms of education including sexual, physical and nutritional health. It will then provide a vantage point to help make them understand the need for the program. This is the persuasion portion of the theory and through education the program will help this group to understand the need for change. The next stage is decision and this portion is important because it means the participants in the group have agreed there is a need for change and they will take the steps needed for a positive outcome. The fourth step is implementation and this step is important because it is real involvement in the program by the participants. This is key because if one member of this target group is involved they are likely to spread the word to friends and family which will bring more people into the group. The last stage is confirmation which means this group is making active steps to learn how to change the negative health issues they face. This theory also fits this target group well because it shows the target group how the new changes will really affect them. It will also help to associate their current and past values and experiences. Working with adolescents the health program must be able to adapt to new information and technology so the target group feels it has the best advantage for positive change.5.)The theory that I have selected to help guide my community garden program is the social cognitive theory. This model makes sense for my program because it says that people are influenced by their experiences, their environment, and the actions of others. A community garden will give people a great experience to learn from their environment and see other people learning with them. A community garden will teach self efficiency and self control as well as show people they are able to grow and source their own foods. Community members will be able to see what their hard work has come to when the garden grows and will be reinforced as they continue to eat from the garden.
