She has been admitted to the sub-acute unit in the skilled nursing home where you are employed. Her prognosis is very poor and death is imminent. She has a living will in place designating her friend as her decision-maker and also has a DNR order.Between breaths she tells you that most of the time in the last 2 months she has been in the hospital and has been told there was nothing left to do but to allow a natural death.
