Question On a hot summer day in Sept. 2021, Mrs. Smith, a 60 y/o Caucasianfemale, is brought to the emergency room for evaluation. Her neighbors found her sitting in her car (for 18 hours), stating that she was waiting for her husband to get home (her husband died 17 years ago). When confronted, she said that her husband told her that he was coming home and she should wait there for him. She said that she and her husband are famous preachers, known around the world, teaching the “Word of God.” Mrs. Smith is also convinced that even though she was in the car a long time, she has the ability to turn back time, so that she was really only out there about 15 minutes. She said that she has not slept for over 3 days but because of her special abilities, she is not tired. Reports, “I actually have a lot of energy.” Denies suicidal and homicidal ideation.Has poor eye contact, is easily distracted and when you ask her a question, you need to repeat it several times.Client states that she has a past history of psychiatric hospitalizations but refusing to say why because she says: “you already know what I am thinking.”She then begins to demand that she speak to her husband! She becomes irate and says “I am angry, stop hiding him from me” as she starts to band her head against the wall. She can answer place and person questions but states it is 2001.
