Instructions for the project
Before you choose any data, you will start by describing to me the theoretical assumptions behind the
data you are planning on using. What do you expect the relationship to be? Why are you going to use
one variable as the dependent variable and not another? What else could influence the relationship
between the two variables?
Once you have decided on a relationship to model you will then choose your data. You will need (at
least) three variables. The variable you choose as your dependent variable will need to be continuous.
You will also need (at least) two independent variables; one continuous and one categorical.
Once you have gotten your data and prepared it for analysis your will need to run a regression in STATA.
After running the regression, copy and paste the output into your word document (this works best if you
highlight the output, right click and copy as picture). It should look something like this:
. regress pernum perwt age

You will then interpret the output. By which I mean you will interpret the each of the coefficients,
statistical significance (t), the P value, R squared, Adj. R squared, the F statistic, and the Prob>F. This
should be (at least) thirteen in all.
Finally you will describe how well your findings fit your original assumptions.
