Question Answered step-by-step My paper will argue that while virtual work offers many benefits to… My paper will argue that while virtual work offers many benefits to employees, it will ultimately negatively affect employee experience. I found an article that made an opposing claim. This article claimed employees working from home saw an increase in quality of life compared to not working from home.” (Weitzer, Seidel, Klösch, Caniglia, Laubichler, Bertau, Birmann, Jäger, Zenk, Steiner, & Schernhammer, 2021) These authors performed an online survey with 1010 respondents. The survey results showed that 17% of respondents saw a quality of life improvement when working from home. I agree that quality of life is essential to employees, and an excellent work-life balance contributes to this. Quality of life is a perceived feeling. Many things can influence a person’s quality of life other than just a remote work environment. The study discussed above did not consider other life changes that may have contributed to improvement in the respondent’s quality of life. While some employees may feel that the flexibility offered by remote work alone increases their quality of life, more than just remote work impacts this perception. Other studies have been conducted on the implications of virtual work environments and found that employees working from home tend to work more hours than they did when working in an office. It’s hard to argue that someone’s quality of life would be improved when they’re spending more hours away from their personal life. Although some remote workers continue to improve their quality of life, many more have seen remote work negatively affect their work experience.
