Question Answered step-by-step My name is Kristin, but I go by Krissy. I am 45 years old, and I am… My name is Kristin, but I go by Krissy. I am 45 years old, and I am excited and nervous to be going back to school after 27 years. I have a 19-year-old son who is in his freshman year at college and is very excited to be doing school at the same time as his mother. I am going for my BA in Human Services with a concentration in Substance Abuse. I am very passionate about this as I am in recovery myself and currently work in the field as a Recovery Coach. Prior to this week, I thought that “Taking Ownership” meant taking responsibility for your actions. I believed that if you celebrated your wins and took responsibility for your failures than you were taking ownership of yourself and your actions. In watching the videos and reading the material I learned that taking ownership is more than just what I previously believed. I learned that asking and receiving help is not relying on others and putting my fate into their hands but deepens my own ownership. Along with the education from my professors there are many tools that SNHU offers I can use to solidify my success. The information in chapter one of P.O.W.E.R. Learning has helped this old dog learn some new tricks. Before reading this, I was very nervous about how successful I would be in trying to retrain my brain to study and test for my courses. Learning about the different types of learning styles and techniques that can be used in making them successful has made me more confident about my future as a college student. I will be applying these strategies in “Taking Ownership” of my education and look forward to all that I can learn. For your response posts, address the following:How can you add to the conversation your classmate started in a constructive way?How does this post help you better understand what it means to “take ownership”?What can you learn from this perspective that is different from your own?
