Question Mrs. Angela Lasky is a 62-year-old Polish woman who has recently… Mrs. Angela Lasky is a 62-year-old Polish woman who has recently moved to Canada to be closer to her daughter. She has high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus, both of which require her to be on medication. She goes to the local health clinic every two weeks to have her blood pressure checked and blood glucose log reviewed to ensure that she is on the correct dosage of medications. The practical nurse takes Mrs. Lasky’s blood pressure, reviews her diet and blood glucose log, and discusses the prescribed medication regimen with her to clarify any confusion as her blood pressure and glucose remain high. Mrs. Lasky tells the practical nurse that she has recently discovered a Polish Supermarket close to her daughter’s house that sells her favourite foods from home and enjoys keeping busy in the kitchen cooking and baking traditional meals for her family. Mrs. Lasky tells the practical nurse that she believes that home cooking and baking is healthier than North American convenience foods that she sees at other supermarkets.
