Mr. C, a 20-year-old college student who had been drinking at a fraternity

Question Answered step-by-step  Mr. C, a 20-year-old college student who had been drinking at a fraternityparty before he fell from a second-story balcony. The ambulance came and took him to the hospital. A fellow college student who accompanies Mr. C tells you “He was completely knocked out right after the fall. But then he woke up a little, so we thought he was okay until he stopped moving again.”    When I assessed Mr. C, in the ER, he did not respond to me. He extended his arms and legs stiffly when nail bed pressure is applied, but there is no verbal response. His eyes were shut and he does not open them even with the nail bed pressure. When I open his eyelids, I saw that his eyes were not the same size. The right eye was bigger than the left. The response, when I shone a flashlight into his eyes, was sluggish. His skull looked the same all the way around. He had some minor cuts to his face, but he wasn’t bleeding very much. I wondered what instrument I could use to determine he had any excessive bleeding occurring. He had a bluish tint around his lips, so I decided he needed some air.    Mr. C’s blood pressure is 250/120 mm Hg, his heart was beating really slow with a rate of 40 beats/min, and he was taking 6 breaths every minute. His breaths were not normal, kind of sporadic, and sometimes, he quit breathing for at least 20-seconds, before breathing again. I saw he had a great big cut above his left eye and that his left leg was crooked.   I decided to put Mr. C on a machine that indicated how his heart was working. A paper showing funny lines that indicated the activity of the heart was printed out. The funny lines did not have any continuity. I notified the Doctor that something didn’t look right.    A friend that accompanied Mr. C. to the hospital, requested that we call the campus pastor, as Mr. C was a member of Fellowship for Christian Athletes and occasionally attended church on Sunday.  -Write a summary of what the original case study was saying.
