Question Mary Snow is a patient with heart failure, whose condition has worsenedsince she was admitted to the cardiac care unit. The provider, Dr. Gonzalez, visits the patient in her room to discuss his plan to move her to the ICU and to find out if she has an advance directive. Mary seems confused but undisturbed, and she clearly does not understand what Dr. Gonzalez has told her.
