It should be mentioned that in Davao city, almost all households are already using vehicles due to the increase in per capita income. As a result, the demand for highway design and road management continues to increase, especially for roads to be easier to use and safer. This is important because it helps control traffic flows that can affect the safety of all road users.As more vehicles use the road, the high probability of road accidents will be determined. On September 12, 2019, along Carlos P. Garcia Highway, Matina Pangi, Davao City four people were killed due to a bad incident. The Isuzu Forward truck loaded with construction materials was heading into the southbound lane of Carlos P. Garcia Highway, when it crossed a curve and hit a concrete pole. In the same year, other accidents occurred, 15 people were injured, and four people died due to a car accident in Barangay Binugao, Toril district. All the victims were identified as passengers of the Mindanao Star bus that was crushed by the Hino Truck.On record, many lives were lost due to road accidents. Where the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that by 2030 the problems of road traffic injuries will be the fifth leading cause of death. The results suggest that road safety laws need to be implemented and used especially highway design and road management will be strengthened and developed (WHO, 2009).This research proposal will provide an overview of the effects of highway design and road management on the safety of drivers in Davao city. OBJECTIVESThe goal of the research study is to help achieve easier and safer roads for all road users in Davao city through highway design and road management. Road safety means ensuring adequate facilities for all road users, especially drivers. The study has the following objectives:To examine what factors contribute to road accidents in Davao city.To investigate how road design and management have impacted the road safety of the road users.To evaluate the contribution of highway design and road management to road safety.The result of the study will be helpful to other researchers in achieving easier and safer roads.         REFERENCE: World Health Organization.
