Question Kampiatu, P., & Cozean, J. (2015). A controlled, crossover study of… Kampiatu, P., & Cozean, J. (2015). A controlled, crossover study of a persistent antiseptic to reduce hospital-acquired infection. African journal of infectious diseases,9(1), 6-9. https://doi.org/10.4314/ajid.v9i1.2 Part 1: Analysis – Understanding your Chosen Article1. Introduce the article.· Explain the research problem that led the researchers to conduct this study. According to the authors, why did they study this issue and why is this issue important?· Provide a brief description of the purpose of the article; what are the researchers trying to achieve/measure/determine?2. Identify the subjects of the study. What are the defining characteristics of this population/sample?3. Logically describe how the researchers conducted the research study. What data did they collect, how did they collect it, and how did they analyze the data? Please be sure to identify the specific research design and explain the process. · TIP: Consult the Qualitative & Quantitative Research Designs document. · TIP: Before writing : What did the research process look like? How did the research study play out? for example, it’s not enough to simply state, ‘This was a pretest-posttest’. Explain the process in detail: How many participants were recruited? What did the pretest look like? What was the intervention? At what point was the posttest conducted?4. Explain the main findings of the study. What did the researchers find? What were the results/outcomes of the study?· TIP: Provide all findings of the study and explain whether they were statistically significant according to the author.Part 2: Evaluation – Critically Appraising the Source5. Explain your opinion on whether the sample is representative of the larger population. · TIP: “representative” a sample is: sample size, sample demographic details, and how the researchers selected their sample. 6.Explain your opinion about the validity of the study’s research design. What did the researchers do to ensure they accurately measure the impact of the intervention? What elements of their current research design might have skewed the results? What can the researchers have done differently to improve their design? · TIP: Consult the Qualitative & Quantitative Research Designs document and apply your knowledge from what we learned in the course to logically explain your opinion. You should look at the “limitations” section of the study to see what the authors think about their design, but summarizing this section is not enough. This question asks you to think critically and draw on your knowledge from the course material to logically explain your evaluation of the study.7. Explain your views on the study’s conclusions and recommendations. Are the main conclusions and recommendations of the study, as presented by the author, logically supported by their findings?· TIP: Consider whether the outcomes are statistically significant and how the researchers drew conclusions from their results. What do they conclude and recommend, and is it reasonable?Part 3: Clinical Application – “Reality Check” 8. Discuss what the RNAO and/or the CNO say about your clinical question. What Best Practice Guidelines do they recommend for your clinical issue? How do the findings of your chosen article relate to the existing BPG? If there are no existing BPG on this issue, what recommendations might you make based on what you learned from the research study?
