When I was younger, I didn’t care about school. College seemed like a waste of time and money. I was never sure what I wanted to pursue. College wasn’t my first priority. I ended up dropping out after attending for 1 year. I think I took on too much, working full time and going to school full time.        After 5 years of working in factories and never feeling satisfied with my job, I decided it was time for a change. I got a new job simply because it was close to home. When I started, I found out they offered a program to all associates that allowed them to continue their education online for free. Going to college can get expensive. This sounded like a great way to continue my education without losing anything.       I was still unsure of what I wanted to pursue as a career. After looking at the options that were offered to me I decided on a BA in Business Administration. A degree in business seemed the most versatile. As someone who isn’t really passionate about a specific career, it seemed like the best option for me.        Before I began this course, my understanding of taking ownership was pretty straightforward. You admit when you got something wrong. You don’t make excuses. You always have to figure out how to overcome your obstacles.        After I finished my reading it really changed my perspective. Taking ownership is so much more than just owning up to your mistakes. Not only should you own up to your mistakes, you should do the same for your successes. Learn from what you’ve done, whether it was what worked or what didn’t work for you, and move forward. I also learned that sometimes you have to ask for help. It doesn’t mean you are relying on others.
