Question Answered step-by-step I need a simple Reference question:Statement:peer response to the statement below. What health care options are available to citizens in developed countries outside the United States? How do the health care costs and payment options in those countries compare to the health care costs and payment options available to both insured and uninsured U.S. citizens? The first country that comes to mind that provides health care to its citizens is Canada. Canada provides universal health care coverage for all of its citizens. It is paid through taxes. Each province and territory has their own health insurance plan. All provinces and territories will provide free emergency medical services, even if you don’t have a government health card. That provided health coverage only covers certain things, however if citizens want to include coverage for other services they do have the option to purchase private insurance to cover those additional services. Citizens of Canada do not pay for their government provided health insurance because they pay in taxes. The only health care costs they do have to pay for are those services not covered by their insurance. This is vastly different than the United States. The U.S. does not provide universal health care coverage. The only people who get free coverage are those who meet the qualifications to receive Medicaid. All others either pay out of pocket or pay their deductible if they have insurance. Of course preventive measures are typically free. Health care costs in the U.S. are ridiculously high and can vary depending if you have insurance or not. In 2019 my husband and I both got genetic testing done before trying to conceive and the difference in price for each of us was astounding. My husband is uninsured so his test was around $300. I had insurance and the company tried to charge my insurance $13,000 for the same exact test. I was shocked. Of course my insurance didn’t cover this test so I had to pay out of pocket and what do you know I was only charged $300. It blows my mind how corrupt some of these places are when it comes to charging for a service here in the U.S. It definitely shows the difference in costs for health care in the U.S. Health Science Science Nursing NUR 504 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
