Alcohol is a major cause of cancers in the mouth, throat, oesophagus , liver and breast. Alcohol also increases cancers related to hormones such as breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. It can also lead to other health problems such as cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.
