Question Answered step-by-step Hello how can I reply to this students discussion board thread? It… Hello how can I reply to this students discussion board thread? It is about cross cultural evangelism. I am suppose to support assertions with a source.Students thread below: I believe that cross-cultural evangelism is an important act for us as believers, many parts of the world are not exposed to God’s word like we are in the United States and I believe it is our responsibility to spread God’s word. The Bible states “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20, NIV). However before we can begin to witness I believe the biggest technique to learn to witness to other cultures starts with the idea of the trust bond. Christianity Confronts Culture defines the trust bond as “The trust bond is a way of forming good relationships between people. It is a way of dealing with tension in a relationship.” (Mayers, 1987). There are different aspects of cross-cultural evangelism such as learning different languages and translating the Bible to specific languages for certain groups of people, but before these can become effective, there needs to be a relationship based on trust between the two groups of people. If someone you have never met starts preaching to you about something you have never heard of, it may be hard to take what they are saying at face value, you may discredit any teaching due to a lack of relationship and trust between one another. Failure to build a trust bond early in the relationships of witnessing may actually lead to not being able to witness due to a damaged foundation to the relationship. However by properly putting this technique into practice it can lead to lives being changed by the power of Jesus. In closing, I think of another quote from Chrisitanity Confronts Culture when the book states “An agent of change can rest upon the natural bond of trust that is present between individuals and groups.” (Mayers, 1987). As previously stated, I believe the trust bond is the most important technique to effectively learn to witness to people of different cultures.
