Question Good Pm, how would you respond, 1. Subliminal messages are aural… Good Pm, how would you respond,1. Subliminal messages are aural stimuli that are commonly placed into other forms of media such as tv advertising or music. The conscious mind is unable to recognize these kind of stimuli. Subliminal messaging influences individuals without their knowledge which can be heavily influenced by technology. It uses visual or audible cues to persuade. Social media has a big anchor on the way people view the world and the internet can send subluminal messages. For example, social media promotes different ad’s and can showcase some ad’s that a reference other implications without an individuals realizing it. 2.In simple terms, a subliminal message is one that is intended to “sneak past your mental radar” and embed itself deep inside your subconscious mind. The term liminal alludes to the fact that this communication should slip beneath your regular awareness. A study conducted by Simon Ruch, Marc Alain, and Katharina Henke, looked at how subliminal face occupation pairs and subliminal vocabulary affected conscious decisions. They found evidence that supported that subliminal messages can affect conscious rational decision-making (Ruch et al., 2016). After doing some more research, I do think that subliminal messaging has some validity but to a certain extent. Furthermore, not everyone is going to be affected the same by subliminal messaging, some people may be more predisposed to it than others. For instance, a subliminal message can be a psychological tactic used by advertisers to persuade us to purchase their products. This tactic may be effective on some individuals but I do not think it is valid to say it is going to affect almost everyone. With the increasing rise of technology and new features, more ways to promote and target audiences have become accessible. Social media has also allowed for more subliminal messaging such as through TikTok ads and sometimes products that are promoted by influencers.  Social Science Psychology PSY 402 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
