Question Answered step-by-step Discussion Post: Subject: NR 293 Pharmacology for Nursing Practice… Discussion Post:Subject: NR 293 Pharmacology for Nursing PracticeWeek 2: PainOne important concept that I have learned so far is that effective pain management does not follow a single approach. Effective pain management is an important component of nursing care. Lilley et al. (2019) report that pain is one of the most common reasons for patients seeking health care. The effectiveness of pain management varies from patient to patient. Effective pain management also requires ongoing reassessment of the pain and the effectiveness of treatments. I also learned that pain can be classified according to its source. It is recognized that pain can be either somatic or visceral and to properly treat pain it is essential to know the source of the pain. As stated by Lilley et al. (2019), visceral and superficial pain usually require opioids for relief, whereas somatic pain (including bone pain) usually responds better to nonopioid analgesics such as NSAIDs. In light of what I have learned, I wish to further my understanding of how the many analgesics differ in their effects and methods of usage.ReferencesLilley, L. L., Collins, S. R., & Snyder, J. S.
