This Code holds all nurses accountable. The Code has principles. A set of statements backs up each principle. The values that nurses are using to meet their professional responsibilities are defined by these principles and statements. Nurses are required to use CNO standards of practice with the Code of conduct. CNO can take appropriate action when a nurse fails to uphold standards of practice.  The Code describes the professional behavior and conduct requirement for all nurses in the healthcare team. 2.The College of Nurses of Ontario, (2019) has published a new Code of Conduct (code) for the nursing profession. The code explains to the public the behavior and conduct to expect from a nurse when receiving care. It also informs nurses of the standard of practice they are professionally accountable for. Code of Conduct is a standard of practice describing accountability. The Code puts patients at the center of nursing care. The public must have confidence in the care nurses provide. Public safety is our top priority. This Code of Conduct supports nurses to provide patients with the care they expect and deserve.According to The Standard practice, Nurses respect the dignity of patients and treat them as individuals Nurses treat patients with care and compassion.  Nurses show respect to patients' culture, identity, beliefs, values and goals and take steps to maintain patients' privacy and dignity in the physical space where they are receiving care. Nurses listen and collaborate with patients and any person the patients want to be involved in their care. Nurses work together to promote patient well-being and respectfully with colleagues to best meet patients' needs  Nurses maintain patients' trust by providing safe and competent care and public confidence in the nursing profession. Nurses maintain and continually improve their competence. They reflect on their practice and set learning goals annually by participating in CNO's Quality Assurance Program.I understand that nurses are expected to use the Code along with other CNO standards of practice, which provide more detailed guidance for nurses. If nurses fail to meet standards of practice, CNO may take action. I have learned the standard of practice the public can use if they have questions about nurses' responsibilities when providing care. Nurses are accountable to these standards of practice. The code is also useful for others who have responsibilities within the nursing profession like employers, educators, and nursing students. 3. In our nursing profession, the codes are important and they support nurses to provide safe practice as apart of their professional roles. The code explains to the public, behavior and performance expect from the nurses when they receives care, so that public have an opportunity to provide feedback. The six principles of code are 1. Nurses respect the dignity of patients and treat them as an individuals, 2. Nurses work together to promote patient well- being, 3. Nurses maintain patients trust by providing safe and competent care, 4. Nurses work respectfully with colleagues to best meet patients needs , 5. Nurses act with integrity to maintain patients trust, 6. Nurses maintain public confidence in the nursing profession.Each principles is supported by a set of statements. This defines nurses to accomplish their professional responsibilities , all nurses are expected to use code along with other CNO standards of patients, which give more guidance for nurses. CNO will take action, if nurses fails to meet standards of practice. The public can use the code if they have any questions about the nurses responsibilities when providing care. People who have responsibilities with in the nursing profession like employer, educator, nursing students can use the code.
