Thank you 1st Discussion to respond I chose to speak about Christianity in this week’s assignments.Christianity is one of the world’s most popular religions, and it developed from Judaism. It spread throughout Europe, and the numerous scriptures stated who Jesus truly was and how he chose his disciples to follow the word of God. Christianity was huge for many years and spread throughout the Roman Empire. As mentioned by Johnson (2022), “Christianity is one of the world’s major religions. It is based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, called the Christ, or anointed one.” Jesus is the one that came to the world to give his life for our sins, and how God loves us so much despite us being sinners. The Roman Empire adopted Christianity when the Emperor of Rome became a Christian. Christianity was engaged in slavery and during the medieval period, Christianity played a very important role in establishing moral authority and encouraged people to act like Jesus and be humble with their brothers and sisters. The role of Christianity in a country is mainly to live in faith in the way Jesus taught us. Faith is what moves us every day and treats our brothers and sisters in the way we want others to treat us. Jesus is love, and we need to spread love and share what we have with others. In my honest opinion, today, what I see is that many people are only thinking about themselves. They don’t think about sharing even a simple “Hello” or a simple “Good morning.” Life is more materialist and in some instances, such as social media, it is what others think or how many likes to obtain from others. Some people are not happy and do not appreciate the little things we have or the little things we can do for others. It costs nothing, but it means a lot to the ones that do not have them. Christianity faces numerous challenges today, the most important of which is unity. It’s amazing how this happens in an institution that is supposed to be an excellent illustration to all of us, in charge of teaching us about God’s world and how to love others the way God loves us. Everyone wants to be in charge, and many people dislike being coached. Even in our church, humbleness is lacking. The situation above is not only at church, we live this on a daily basis. As mentioned by Schein (2013), “Some tasks can be accomplished by each person doing his or her own thing. If that is the case, building relationships and improving communication may not matter.” We live in this situation daily, especially at work. I work as a nurse case manager and spend the majority of my time creating care plans for patients remotely. In most parts of my job, I don’t need to communicate much with my peers because, with my experience, I can complete a tasks without asking questions to anyone most of the time and only send an email to my coordinator and the person who needs to proceed with the next step when to finish a task. I try to be different, and occasionally I send a jabber message to my peers, at least to communicate simple things, say hello, or even wish them a good day. It’s not costly, but it means a lot that we can communicate in some ways with a few words without losing our dignity.ReferencesJohnson, J. A. . M. (2022). In 610 a prophet named Muhammad began to spread the teachings of a monotheistic religion called Islam. Muhammad’s calling as a prophet came as a result of honoring a message from God, which was given to him by the angel Gabriel. Muhammad’s call to unify Arabic people with this message was initially met with resistance, as the varying nomadic tribes did not understand or feel a need to change their views. Followers of the Abrahamic Islamic faith are knowns as Muslims. For twelve years, Muhammad and his followers were met with resistance and ultimately they traveled to neighboring towns, where this message was better received. Even though the message of Islam was better received in other regions and they were gaining more followers, persecution was not far behind. It was by fleeing persecution, that the Islamic faith made it to Africa. African tribal leaders found value in the teachings of Islam, as it does not encourage a division between religious and political authority. This was appealing because it encouraged the ideals of kingship that were practiced in Africa (The Impact of Islam, n.d.).The teachings of Islam provided a framework for a judicial system that many merchants found desirable. According to (The Impact of Islam, n.d.) “Unlike early Christianity, Muslims were not reluctant to engage in trade and profit; Muhammad himself was a merchant”. The trade route became a vessel for Islamic peoples to not only gain profit but also spread their teachings. The number of followers gained strength in numbers, largely due to the use of trade routes through the silk road; not only for goods but also to supply other regions with slaves. The Islamic faith was well received in Africa by those in power. Muslims provided as many s “ten million African slaves…during the “trans-Saharan slave trade between 750 and 1500 CE”(The Impact of Islam, n.d.).The silk road trade route would also bring the Islamic faith to Asia. Here they gained followers by preaching to the lower caste citizens. Asia offered a significant of people without political or societal influence, who wanted to belong to something larger than themselves.Muslims arrived in Western Europe by crossing the Straits of Gibraltar from North Africa. Like in the other countries they visited, influence in Europe included art, food, science, and laws of the other countries they had impacted.Describe the role of Islam in a country with which you are most familiar today. In Turkey, 99% of their citizens are Muslim, primarily practicing Sunni Islam, which follows the most orthodox of beliefs. Muslims pray five times a day at specified times, their lifestyle is one that accommodates this. The entire culture is one of adhering to its belief structure.Based on your perceptions and understanding (rather than what appears in the news media and social media), what has changed? What remains the same? Support your response with an authoritative source.Christianity and the Islamic faith share the Abrahamic roots. They are both structured within a monotheistic frame. It was the Christian angel Gabriel, who spoke to Muhammad. Both of these religions share much of their background although each feels the other is blasphemous to “their” true God (Global Connections . Religion | PBS, n.d.). Prior to this assignment, I had little knowledge about the background of the Islamic faith. I knew that the Islamic faith, like many other faiths, had its own religious extremist. Extremists of any kind are always dangerous, as nothing in this world is black and white. We all exist in the gray zone of everything. What has changed for me was gaining a deeper understanding of this religion. The knowledge that remains the same for me, is the tragic understanding that people will continue not to practice the true message of God; acceptance of all life that He created. ReferencesGlobal Connections .
