Establish a problem, situation, or setting. Use events to create a smooth progression of experiences. Use dialogue, thoughts, reflection, pacing and descriiption to develop your narrative. Use precise words, telling details and sensory language to create a vivid picture of events, setting, and characters. Provide a conclusion that follows from and reflects on what is experienced, observed, or resolved. Use correct pronouns to establish point of view (such as using I, me, or mine for first person point of view or she, her, they for third person point of view).

This week, we’ve been discussing activity and interaction overview diagrams. Interaction Overview Diagrams (IOD) provide a high-level overview of the interactions happening within a system. Therefore, these diagrams show dependencies and flows between use cases. For this week’s Critical Thinking activity, create an IOD for a system of your choosing. Add notes to your activity and IOD. Provide an overview of your diagram, including a detailed discussion of the activity within your diagram. Utilize the assigned readings from the course to complete your activity. Please cite at least one additional credible or scholarly source to support your analysis and positions. The CSU Global Library is a good place to find scholarly sources. This activity will vary in length, however the written portion should be a minimum of one page with document and citation formatting that conforms to APA guidelines in the CSU Global Writing Center (Links to an external site.). Select and discuss in some depth any ONE work, composition, or piece of music, written/performed in any style or genre, from any time period, of your own choosing, from a musical culture other than your own. Yes, this indeed can be a challenging starting point for the discussion, as you must, obviously, first of all, determine “what is your musical culture?” Many people today identify with more than a single culture. Consider also that “culture” can indeed refer to any number of factors, or combination of factors, including ethnicity, religious or spiritual beliefs, ancestral heritage of recent or distant years, artistic/musical traditions, belief/value systems, and so on. Personal musical preference also can factor into determining your overall “musical culture.” For the purposes of this discussion question, think about your first or primary or leading (or perhaps your only) culture, and then (1.) identify that culture at the beginning of your response in a brief statement. Then, write a personalized reflection about the work you selected, from a DIFFERENT culture, being sure to (2.) identify that other culture, (3.) discuss what you heard in your selected music, and (4.) use appropriate musical terminology from the readings associated with Module 7 and from other musical vocabulary used in the previous modules, especially Module 1. Diversity raises many complex issues, exploring diversity is not simply a matter of learning about other people’s cultures, values, and ways of being; it involves discovering how race, class, and gender—along with factors like age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion—frame people’s lives. The point is not just that people are diverse, as if that were a nice and interesting fact of life, but that factors such as race, sexual orientation, gender, etc., are fundamental axes if society as, and as such, are critical to understanding people’s lives, institutional systems, contemporary social issues, and the possibilities for social change. As students studying and working in their communities increasing your insight into the role and function of diversity in our daily lives, (and how it frames our perspectives and interactions) is critical in understanding the complex, multi-factored experiences.
