This type of anemia can be either acute or chronic and if a patient presents with massive splenomegaly or lymphadenopathy then the physician should look for secondary causes of hemolytic anemia like chronic lymphocytic leukemia or non Hodgkin’s lymphoma (Shah, 2004).
