Question A woman asked the nurse if play therapy would help her 11-year-old… A woman asked the nurse if play therapy would help her 11-year-old son who has become depressed. She stated, “When my son was 10, we lived in a neighborhood where the kids all went to school together. One evening we got a call that his friend Jason had hung himself in his closet. My son was devastated. The boys in the neighborhood, including Jason, had been over to play in the fort earlier in the day and had a great time. My son could not understand why this happened and does not want to talk to anyone.” How would the nurse explain play therapy to the mother? Which therapy would be beneficial for the son? Unconditional positive regard or nondirective play therapy? The mother says she also has a 6-year-old son with autism. Could play therapy help her other son as well?  Health Science Science Nursing PEDIATRICS NR328 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
