The customer name, customer address, product description, quantity ordered, unit price and total dollar value appear on the terminal. The clerk verifies the preceding information before releasing the information to the system. This completeness control checks the format (existence of expected numeric or alphanumeric characters) of a transaction to ensure that all required data is present. All numeric data should properly be subjected to format checks. However, since the edit is only checking for a certain format, it is unlikely that the control will be of much help in controlling the accuracy of the input.
