Nucleus was removed with a combination of nucleus expression plus lens vectus.After removal the iris tended to prolapse from the wound and this appeared to be due to a large cortex plusHealon still left in the AC.The wound was sutured with 10-0 nylon interrupted sutures with just enough room to get the Site irrigation aspiration needle in. Irrigation aspiration was then per.formed which was quite lengthy because there was a great deal of cortical material that was resistent to the suction. There we took some time, it went easily and without complication. Cortical stripping of the posterior capsule was then performed. The posterior capsule wasscrubbed with a vacuum scrubbing technique with the site. Healon was placed in the anteriorchamber, a couple 10-0 nylon sutures were cut so that the implant could be placed in the ciliarysulcus which I did and rotated to the 9 and 3 o’clock positions. Peripheral iridectomy was per-formed, additional 10-0 nylon sutures placed and the Healon aspirated out of the anterior chamber.The wound was checked for wound leaks and there were none.
