They are used as both grant proposal and manuscript preparation guides. Use the “Revised Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence: SQUIRE 2.0” resource to respond to the following:Discuss how your project/prospectus fits into the SQUIRE guidelines. Explain why your project is a quality improvement project and not a research project.Response:The SQUIRE guidelines were implemented to provide a structured approach to the reporting and legitimizing the scholarly dissemination of QI initiatives (McQuillian & Wong, 2016). The SQUIRE 2.0 was implemented in 2015 to SQUIRE 2.0 was released to minimize redundancies and provide a standardized framework for QI reporting and planning (McQuillian & Wong, 2016). My DPI question states: Do parents of obese children who participate in a healthy lifestyle education program over a 6-week period have a reduction in their child’s BMI? My project fits into these guidelines as my tittle indicates that this is an initiative to improve healthcare i.e., reduce childhood obesity (SQUIRE, 2017). My DPI project is based upon a local and global pandemic in developed countries. Obesity that occurs in childhood is likely to follow into adulthood and this increases the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease at a younger age (Sahoo et al., 2015). Obesity is not fully understood and is thought to have multiple causes such as environmental factors, lifestyle preferences, and cultural factors (Sahoo et al., 2015). The purpose of my DPI project clearly states to help reduce childhood obesity and I will describe interventions in sufficient detail (SQUIRE, 2017). My project will include all the necessary requirements, such as the rationale, specific aims, context, interventions, measures, and analysis, to name a few (SQUIRE et al., 2017). My DPI project is a quality improvement project, not a research project, as my project uses a systematic continuous approach with a goal to solve a healthcare problem, improve service provision, and provide better patient outcomes (Backhouse & Ogunlayi, 2020). My DPI project promotes a systematic change method to improve patient outcomes, not research a current phenomenon (Backhouse & Ogunlayi, 2020).
