Question Answered step-by-step Learning the different theories like conflict, functionalism, and… Learning the different theories like conflict, functionalism, and exchange theory has really helped me better understand the many roles and dynamics a family has both in itself and with society. I think this knowledge will help me better with the rest of my classes as they play a big part of both sociology and anthropology. These theories and this class have also helped me see my childhood and the roles in the family in a new way. I never fully understood each role, how society influenced it and why they were so important to the function of the family. Learning these things has helped me see how I was raised compared to my parents and grandparents. The differences in the roles the husband/father have evolved over time from the bread winner who didn’t help much around the house or with the kids to current days where we have stay at home dads and more help with the household stuff. Wives/mothers work more outside the home helping to support the family or in many cases doing it all by themselves as the need for a man is less so today and more accepted. It was also really interesting to see how some things changed families like advances in technology and how shared meals have evolved. I have to say I find the changes over the last 50+ years to be fascinating and I can’t wait to learn more in my upcoming classes. For me, I came from a religious family, and I didn’t follow along with life events in the order my family wanted. That also changed the roles and dynamics of the family I have made for myself. I want to someday teach people that change is good and just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s wrong. WHAT SIMILAR INSIGHT AS WELL AS DISTINCT FROM YOUR OPINIONS AND REFLECTION?
