Otherwise you can only divorce if you are separated first for at least two years.  Basically this type of marriage does away with “no fault divorce” in which couples can get divorced for any reason at all. Very few couples have opted to get a covenant marriage license in these states.Recently, a German politician proposed a seven year marriage limit, after which the couple must recommit to the marriage again.
