Do you agree under these circumstances you would and would not use… Do you agree under these circumstances you would and would not use numbers in the presentation of results from each of the types of qualitative methods reviewed? When presenting results from various research, evaluation, or experimental situations, ensuring the data points are accurate and are relatable to the program overall is vital.  There are a number of situations where there is a need for the use of numbers in qualitative methods, as these can show a clear distinction as to the results and how future aspects can be handled.  “A growing consensus is emerging that sees both qualitative and quantitative approaches as useful to answering research questions and understanding the world.” (Anderson, 2010).  The data from qualitive methods can be a valuable source, as this can present the information to stakeholders in such a manner where the key pieces of needed information is readily available and is pertinent to them as well.  The data that can be extracted from the qualitative methods needs to be accurate and reflect the parties it is meant to represent.  When done correctly, you are able to have a better view of the situation and are able to correct if needed.            On the other hand, there are reasons where the use of numbers would not be appropriate.  “The quantities of data are often overwhelming and because the various stakeholders and evaluation participants might potentially provide conflicting interpretations of the data” (Issel et al., 2022).  Additionally, “the delays and frustrations will overcome the ultimate value of the data, and the data will be set aside” (Issel et al., 2022).  If the data that is collected is overwhelming and starts to become convoluted, it will overshadow many of the other aspects of the evaluations and the stakeholders will deem the reports as unusable since they will be unable to determine what the results are or what they should be.  You must be careful when using numbers in qualitative methods and ensure they do not become quantitative methods instead.
