Amora, RGCThis study determined the effectiveness of play therapy in enhancing the subjective well-being of a sexually-abused child. Using single n’design, the study utilized one participant who came from recreation and action center in Calamba. After being subjected to a play therapy, the participant answered the PANAS-C and SWLS and was also interviewed by a social worker. Specifically, the study described pre-treatment or baseline condition (A1) of the participant in terms of subjective well-being status; determined the condition of the participant in terms of subjective well being status during the introduction of CBPT (treatment phase B1), described the post-treatment condition (A2) of the participant in terms of subjective well being after the first introduction of CBPT determined the condition of the participant in terms of subjective well being status during the re-introduction (B2) of CBPT, identified the effect of play therapy on the subjective well being of sexually-abused child and the implications of play therapy on her subjective well-being.The utilization of PANAS-C and SWLS helped to identify and draw-out potential problems and negative emotions out of the participant, while the use of movement manifestation checklist verified the results from PANAS-C and SWLS.Based on the findings of the study, the researcher concluded that the participant’s subjective well-being was relatively low as evidenced by low positive affect (14) and high negative affect (15) Therefore, the participant needed assistance through CBPT.There was a continuous improvement in the child’s condition as she manifested positive changes in her behaviors throughout the different phases of the experiment. These were reflected in her scores on PANAS-C and SWLS. Since there was no reversal observed after the first introduction of CBPT (B1), this observation validated the effectiveness of CBPT in this phase. The post treatment (A2) data proved that the CBPT intervention lead to an increased positive affect and satisfaction in life or generally in the participant’s subjective well-being. The re-introduction of the intervention (B2) showed a positive change in the subjective well-being of the participant on a daily basis. CBPT enhanced SWB through consistent pattern of increase in positive affect and decline of negative affect as well as significant positive change in life satisfaction of the sexually-abused child. Due to the sustained positive changes on her subjective well-being, from the introduction (B1) of CBPT to the final observation (A3), it was concluded that CBPT is an effective intervention in enhancing the subjective well-being of a sexually-abused child. Keywords: play, therapy, subjective well-being, sexually-abused, child intervention Arts & Humanities English ENGLISH 97 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
