Question Answered step-by-step WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS DISCUSSION? PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS… WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS DISCUSSION? PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTSit can be a taunting task for many people to adhere to their medication regimen, especially when they are taking multiple medications that have unpleasant side effects which make her feel like she is worse. As nurses, we have to identify the barriers that our patient has for adherence in order to figure out how we can help. Something we can do to encourage the patient to take their medications is to educate them on the benefits for herself and the baby, and to emphasize on the importance of taking the medication as prescribed. We can give her ways to reduce the side effects if this is what is making her feel worse. If the medications are exacerbating her symptoms of nausea and vomiting we can suggest things like eating dry crackers before getting up from bed, eating small meals, drinking fluids separate from meals, and eating foods that appeal to her taste.
