In the most recentpresidential election, the Democrat won the state by a 60-40 margin, makingthat ratio a likely one for the entire state. The vast majority of those Democrats, though, live in the state’s only major city, which is densely packed. The suburbsare about even politically and rural areas are about 80-20 for Republicans. Ifyou are a Republican and in charge of drawing the state’s congressional districtboundaries, how do you best gerrymander the state’s districts to ensureRepublicans win at least two of those seats while conforming to the SupremeCourt’s rules on congressional districts?make one district composed only of the city, dividing the other twodistricts between the rural areas and the suburbs.divide the districts evenly between city, suburbs, and rural areascreate two small-population districts in the rural areas and make one vastdistrict, with most of the state’s population, in the rest of the statecarve two districts out of the city and place the less-populated suburbsand rural areas in a single district  History US History Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
