The text below is my answer to the assignment What is the relationship between technological innovation and work, productivity, economic security, and social class? The impact of technological progress on various aspects of life, including work, productivity, economic security, and social status, is intertwined. To begin with, innovation does have a substantial impact on work and productivity, but the outcome differs (either positive or negative). According to several studies, some innovations have little positive influence on work and productivity due to low service innovation performance as well as low time-related uniformity in the implementation and effect of innovations. (“work of the future: Building better jobs in an age of intelligent machines,” 2020).This just demonstrates that depending on the standard and implementation of technical innovation, the influence could be favorable or detrimental. This illustrates the same concept of how technological innovation affects economic security: if work productivity is high as a result of technological innovation, the economy will benefit as well, resulting in good economic security, which means good cash flow and stable income to support a standard of living now and in the future. As the social class is determined by educational attainment, wealth, income, occupation, and membership in a subculture or social network, this has a positive impact on the nation’s and individuals’ social classes. As a result, the people of the country will be held to a higher standard in the hierarchy. What opportunities and limitations have been created with the rise of digital technologies? What is the future of work as technology becomes more advanced?Rapid globalization and technology innovation has many benefits, but they may also cause stress if they are not properly used and individuals are not adequately trained on how to use them. The world of globalization may give up options such as a high rate of labor productivity and output free of human mistakes, but it also comes with limitations in terms of employment opportunities. Moreover, limiting employment will have a negative impact on both economic security and social status. As a result, it’s critical to strike a balance between technical advancement and human intervention. As technology advances, so should our capacity to operate it, in order to maintain a balance between technological innovation and human abilities (“TECHNOLOGY, JOBS, AND THE FUTURE OF WORK,” 2017). What are some ways that employers, policymakers, and workers can adapt to an increasingly digital world? What skills do workers need to set themselves apart in a world that relies more and more on digital technology?Seminars and training on effective technology handling should be heavily promoted, and their execution should be closely monitored. Knowing the pieces, how it works, how to run it, and, of course, troubleshooting if necessary, are all skills that a human can possess. These abilities should be taught and are a must for employees. The text below is an answer to the identical homework written by one of my classmates. What is the relationship between technological innovation and work, productivity, economic security, and social class? The technological innovation that will influence society at large will be the development of automation. It will bring the promise of higher productivity and efficiencies using robotics (Manyika, 2017). It will streamline bureaucratic practices at work such as the hiring process. This will benefit people looking for jobs because it’ll speed up the process while matching up with their skill sets. However, it will initially threaten the economic security of lower-class/blue-collar workers with limited skill sets. White-collar workers will benefit from automation as their skill sets will potentially fit into the technological aspects of automation (Manyika, 2017). The required employee skills will change in most industries as relatively simple skills will be partially taken over by intelligent algorithms and sensors (Blommaert & Vadenbroek, 2019). The innovation of automation will become its own revolution that’ll last a generation for people to adapt to the technology. According to Brynjolfsson, that was the case for the rise of electricity during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century (Brynjolfsson, 2013). It goes back to Kelly’s Ted talk that technology and society often evolve with each other, like two peas in a pod. What opportunities and limitations have been created with the rise of digital technologies? What is the future of work as technology becomes more advanced? While many people focus on how automation will replace jobs, it will also create opportunities for new work and income possibilities. The evolution of technology in the workplace created many new career fields that never existed before. These career fields include in areas including IT development, hardware manufacturing, app creation, and IT systems management. Many schools are currently re-evaluating their education systems to help students transition into this evolution into advanced technology (Manyika, 2017). What are some ways that employers, policymakers, and workers can adapt to an increasingly digital world? What skills do workers need to set themselves apart in a world that relies more and more on digital technology? As automation becomes more apparent in society, workers must obtain technological skills that will help them thrive. Most jobs will be partially taken over by automation and being technologically minded will be helpful while transferring skills to other jobs. The growing role of big data in business will create strong need for data scientists and statisticians (Manyika, 2017). However, employers, policymakers, and workers must be aware of business practices that rekindle the competition of the United States with its economic rivals. The increasingly digital world will be more competitive as workers will figuratively fight over job positions while employers will hire people that’ll meet their economic interests.
